I’m very happy with the return of movement after 1 week. Dr Denard and staff are the best. The follow-up calls were nice to receive and helpful they answered my questions. Looking forward to having my shoulder back to normal shortly, as was with the other one I had 5 years ago. And the new surgery center on Airport Rd was outstanding. Thanks for all you do for us.

I went to Southern Oregon Orthopedics. Asante employees said Dr. Owens was the best, and he was.
I didn't want to have surgery, but was told I would never walk again without it.
I had surgery. The surgery was successful. I was unable to walk at all for a time. Then I was in a boot for many weeks unable to walk, then in a boot walking. Then, yahoo, boot free. Then I used trekking poles for a bit.
I am doing great! I walk a few miles daily with my dogs again. I am still working some on balance. Dr. Owens has me wearing Hoka rockers to help with balance. I am back in life--WALKING!
He is the absolute best ankle surgeon. If ever in need of ankle care, Dr. Owens is the specialist to see.Mary

A truly wonderful experience from the great doctor Todd Clevenger to his wonderful assistants Noah and Steve (I think I have their names correctly.) My knees are great; first one done in February of 2024, and second one July 11 of 2024. I can kneel on my knees; work in the yard on my knees up to a couple of hours. I do yoga which has greatly helped my knees. I walk a fair bit; can walk up to a mile, and do yoga at least twice a week. Not bad for an 80 year old woman! My knees seldom really hurt; I take one aspirin a day, but that is because I want to avoid strokes. Other than thyroid I take no other medications. Dr. Clevenger knew I am allergic to all opioids except maybe Morphine. Didn't have to have any for pain. Took gavapin only for a couple of days after the surgery. I am really happy with my knees. Thank you Dr. Clevenger, your assistants and Southern Oregon Orthopedics. The physical therapy I had for 6 weeks twice a week was fantastic.

Father's Day 2013 was just another Open Circuit Pleasure Horse Show. One of many over 20 years. This show, however, was special in that I had worked one year with a 4-year-old gelding in Showmanship. This show would prove that I indeed had been successful in his training. It was, he took the Championship in Showmanship. I was so excited and knew we perhaps had a promising future together.
From the Showmanship classes I saddled him in preparation for Western Pleasure classes. As I was warming him up in the Isola Arena in Central Point, it was quiet with only four other riders. All of a sudden, he began to act strangely, and I couldn't get him to settle down for reasons unknown even to this day. Once he quieted down, he just stood like a statue. The moment I asked him to walk he exploded ripping the reins out of my hands and launching me 15 feet in the air. I never remembered leaving the saddle. The next thing I knew I came to on the ground with a crowd around me and I couldn't move. An ambulance was called and off to Asante I went.
Upon arrival, Dr. Denard was assigned my case. This was the first time I met Dr. Denard and his assistant, Noah. There was so much trauma done to my arm that surgery could not be performed for 24 hours until the swelling decreased. The doctor was forthright explaining to me the seriousness of my injury that if I did not follow his exact directions, I could lose my right arm. Even before my surgery he advised me that the healing process would be two years, and I could not handle or be around any horses for this block of time. Dr. Denard had to implant a metal device with 5 fingers to stabilize all the pieces of bone. My arm was immobile and in a sling for months. The implant was supposed to be temporary however my body had other plans.
After surgery and during recovery it took 6 - 8 months before I could even start physical therapy. When my therapy began, I literally had no idea how grueling the next year and a half would be. Discouragement reigned. When the doctor told me that there was a chance, I may never be able to lift my arm above my waist, I told him, "Watch me". I had to purpose in my mind that I would overcome my malady. Well, indeed, that was easier said, than done. After many months of therapy, the metal bracket in my arm was restricting my healing process and it had to be removed. The day it was removed I knew I would get my life and horsemanship back but still had much work left in front of me.
After almost two years as the doctor said, the day finally came when it was time to be released from Denard's care. He performed a final exam and found that I pretty much had almost my full range of motion back. He was so happy and impressed as to how far I had come. For me, it is always exhilarating to win in the arena, but with my frame of mind, and "can do" attitude it was my goal to retain my life in horsemanship, I knew I had also been a winner in this process as well. I feel that with any injury often times it is our frame of mind and what we actually purpose in our hearts will dictate how successful we are in our healing process.
I cannot express my gratitude to Dr. Denard and his staff for the professionalism, communication, compassion, and skill in healing me. I also know there is a "Great Healer" who did a wonderful job in directing the surgeon's hands. Southern Oregon Orthopedics staff were always great to work with.
They say, "Things always happen for a reason". This is true. One year after I was released, I was able to spend the next 7-years training my grand-daughter in exhibiting horses passing my skill to her. If this accident would not have happened, I would have missed out on those years of shaping and bonding with her. Today? The unsightly scar still remains, the Open Horse Shows are gone due to Covid, but I still ride, don't have any arm issues, and I actually get to judge horse shows now. Win/win! ~ J.Walch

I was attacked by a drug addict and fighting him off, a bone above my already shoulder replacement was broken. Dr. Nugent fixed it by putting in a plate and 6 skews. It has taken time and a lot of exercises, but I have very good use of my right arm again. The awful pain is gone.

Upper left leg had been bothering me for months. I tried physical therapy, had a hip x-ray at the hospital and a nerve measurement, all to no avail. Went to SO Orthopedics where they did their own x-ray. When it popped up on Dr. Jancuska's computer screen, we both exclaimed "That's a bad hip!" Anyone could have seen that. Surgery a couple weeks later went well. I took two steps with assistance and a walker about an hour after I woke up. The next morning I did the same around the circular hallway at Providence. At home I used the walker around the house for about a week then only for indoor walking exercise or at night for another week. Up and down stairs, very carefully, at two weeks. I used a seat in the shower for the first couple weeks, but could have done without it. After that I started driving and used a cane for another couple weeks or so. Fully normal at 4 - 5 months. Make sure your surgeon uses this or a related procedure. Some still use one that imposes severe restrictions over a much longer recovery time.

I'd had both knees replaced a few years prior to this shoulder surgery. I had a pretty good idea of what it would be like. I thought. But to my surprise this shoulder replacement was far easier, and the outcome is just wonderful. Not at all like my knees, which still give me pain much of the time.
I highly recommend Dr. Denard and his team, don't wait 7 years like I did! I plan to get the other one done sometime in the future.Dawn

After having my second shoulder replacement I was able to get back to gardening, raking and digging. and helping my husband getting firewood, Taking it home to split and stack. I can work for hours without any shoulder pain anymore. I am really happy that I had it done. Most important too is make sure to do the therapy to get your full use back.

before surgery I was not able to reach up higher than my shoulder, push sideways or back with my arms, couldn't give "high-five", and I could not lift even semi heavy things, like a bucket of water. I like to garden and work on projects. I had had surgery on my right shoulder in 2021, on my left in 2022. Dr. Denard's team was amazing, very focused and organized.
After the surgery I did the Physical Therapy, started working with weights and doing my garden work, I could even use the weed-eater again, and started doing yoga again. I felt 20 years younger. I healed pretty fast, not at least because I always had watched out that I eat healthy and take my supplements.
I am very thankful to Dr. Denard and his team, but I also know that the patient has to do his or her part to heal well, we cannot leave the responsibility for our health up to the doctors. I am 75 now and feel happy and healthy.Sue

I was fine one day and the next day was in horrible pain when I would step with my right side. There was no warning signs; just wham, there it was. Very debilitating and very difficult to do anything. Saw Dr. Cowley and had cortisone shot to make sure it was actually my hip. It was but the shot only lasted two (2) months (you can only get the shot every three (3) months) and was back to the horrible pain for a month before I could get another shot. After the second shot, I saw Dr. Cowley and said, “Let’s get her done.” to which we moved forward towards the surgery. Had the surgery which turned out the hip was shot. In recovery, they get you up and you have to show your ability to walk. The recovery was a lot easier than a surgery I had when I was younger. Went home the same day. It is still amazing to me today. The next day your PT person comes and evaluates your walking abilities and checks your bandages and medications and makes recommendations, if any. This is done for approximately for two (2) weeks. Everybody in my recovery was absolutely wonderful. I have been up and moving like normal ever since. I cannot thank everyone enough; ESPECIALLY Dr. Cowley. He is the best at what he does and a fantastic human being! Thank you Dr. Cowley with all my heart. I am forever grateful for what you have done for me.
