BACKGROUND

Dr. Denard is a native Oregonian. He attended college at the University of Puget Sound where he earned a Bachelor of Science and was an academic all-American. He obtained his medical degree at Dartmouth College in New Hampshire. He then returned home to Oregon to complete his orthopedic residency training at Oregon Health & Science University where he received the research award as a chief resident.

After residency he completed specialized fellowship training in shoulder arthroscopy in San Antonio, Texas under Dr. Stephen Brukhart, who is considered by many to be among the best shoulder arthroscopists in the world. Finally, Dr. Denard completed a fellowship in shoulder replacement surgery in Lyon, France under Dr. Gilles Walch, one of the developers of the reverse shoulder replacement arthoplasty procedure.

In addition to his position at Southern Oregon Orthopedics, Dr. Denard is a Clinical Affiliate Instructor at Oregon Health & Science University and is a journal reviewer for Orthopedics and The Arthroscopy Journal. He is the author of a textbook on shoulder surgery: “The Cowboy’s Companion: A Trail Guide for the Arthroscopic Shoulder Surgeon”. He has also authored chapters in four other textbooks; published over 25 research articles, and presented his research both within the United States and internationally.
